An attorney who has been suspended or disbarred can use this template to submit the required notification to clients and inform them of next steps for their case.
Dear Client,
It is with great regret that I must inform you that I can no longer serve as your lawyer. Despite my appeals, I have been disbarred and can no longer legally practice in the state of Anystate.
Rest assured that your interests will be protected. All client property and case files will be returned to you under separate cover. My records indicated that no funds are outstanding or due to you.
I have already filed with the court to withdraw from your pending case, and opposing counsel has been notified as well. You must engage another attorney for your case to proceed.
This notice is required under Rule 27 of the American Bar Association. I apologize for any inconvenience.
Sincerely,
Your Name
