When requesting remote work, it helps to lay out the benefits for the employer. This letter helps find the right words.
I hope this is not my resignation letter. I'm writing to urge you to consider allowing our team to work remotely at this time. I expect that if we are given the opportunity, we will prove that we are a smart, capable team that can be even more efficient while working from home (WFH).
I've attached several articles and studies that demonstrate the many benefits to a WFH arrangement.
Our technology needs would be few, and the company would actually see a savings due to reduced needs for office space and other on-site resources. Most of us already have high-speed internet at home, as well as appropriate workspaces, so really all we would need is laptops and perhaps ergonomic chairs.
Please consider this letter my official request to transition to working from home, effective immediately. If this cannot be accommodated, I must resign.
