If you're leaving a church or other place of worship due to prejudices held by religious leaders or members, this letter spells out the problems.
Dear Rev./Fr. Churchleader,
Sunday was our last time attending this church. After so many years, it is hard to leave our church family, but your sermon that day solidified a decision that we had been praying on for some time.
You preached that some people and how they love are "wrong" and "sinful." It is you who is wrong. To put it more simply, "God don't make mistakes."
I don't believe that prejudice is within Christ's teachings. I urge you to get out into the community, or even just get to know your own congregation better. I assure you that we are not the only family leaving due to these antiquated, hateful biases.
