Sometimes, when an employee gives notice of two weeks upon quitting, the employer wants them to leave right away. This letter template acknowledges the directive, and also offers consulting services in the future.
Dear Mr./Ms. Bossname,
Thank you for accepting my resignation, which I had intended to be effective May 30. However, I’ve been informed that the company would like me to leave immediately.
It was out of respect and dedication that I gave two weeks’ notice, which is not required by law. While I am surprised that my assistance is not needed, especially in regard to my client base and specialized account knowledge, I will of course vacate my office by close of business today as ordered.
I expect that you will find my files in order. If you do find that you have questions or issues moving forward, I might be available to consult at a per diem rate.
Sincerely,
Your Name
